About USPower
USPower builds Optiminer for distribution grid observability and fault intelligence.
Optiminer is designed to help electric utilities understand the local distribution grid, locate faults, improve power quality, detect non-technical losses, and plan upgrades with better field data.
Why USPower focuses on the distribution grid
The distribution grid is the part of the electric system inside cities, towns, neighborhoods, industrial parks, and rural service areas. It is where customers experience blackouts, voltage problems, transformer stress, and many power quality issues.
Transmission systems usually have more monitoring. Distribution systems often have far fewer measurement points, which makes outage management, distribution fault location, and distribution grid management harder than they should be.
What Optiminer provides
Optiminer combines distribution grid sensors, Prospector transformer devices, Surveyor communication concentrators, a high-speed control center database, and artificial intelligence. The system analyzes distribution fault patterns, sequence of events records, power quality disturbances, and power-flow imbalances.
A bridge to modernization
USPower views Optiminer as a bridge technology. Utilities still need long-term infrastructure investment, new generation, new substations, additional grid carrying capacity, and upgraded protection systems. Optiminer helps the existing grid operate more intelligently while that work is planned and built.
